The UserAward Network
In the UsersAward Network trade union and consumer organisations cooperate with researchers, companies and software providers in a powerful combination of user movement and research. The strategy for user influence builds on a unique combination of user surveys ("The IT map"), pilot projects at workplaces (for deeper understanding), competition (positive examples in a yearly IT Prize Contest), and the Users' Certification of workplace software packages.
The workshop is sponsored by UsersAward AB, the non-profit development company coordinating the UsersAward Network, http://www.usersaward.se. UsersAward AB is the software-side counterpart to TCO Development AB, the company responsible for the globally recognised TCO’92, TCO’95, TCO’99, and TCO’03 certification processes for electronics hardware equipment, http://www.tcodevelopment.com. UsersAward AB is fully owned by LO (the Swedish Trade Union Confederation) and sponsored by the Swedish Agency for Innovation Systems, VINNOVA.
CID, the Centre for User Oriented IT Design, is a competence centre, sponsored in equal parts by industry and user organisations, KTH, and VINNOVA, and responsible for coordination of the UsersAward research effort, http://cid.nada.kth.se/en/ao/.
The workshop will open with a joint LO, TCO, CID and VINNOVA event, the presentation of the finalists and the winners of the 2005 Users’ IT Prize Award. |
